Times are changing and people are becoming more aware of the horrible mistreatment and often painfull abuse our "food" has to endure before being slaughtered for our dinner table.
Vegans made it seem as if they had a real 'barbecued dog' cooking in the street to shock people into ditching meat. It may not be a 'thing to eat dog meat here in the USA.. but it is across the world.
PETA used the very lifelike prop to make people reconsider who and what they put on their plates.

Vegan activists have been accused of ‘terrifying’ schoolchildren by ‘barbecuing’ a dog in the middle of a busy street in a protest against eating meat.
In a statement the animal rights organisation PETA said:
‘Anyone who’s repulsed by the prospect of chowing down on dog meat should question the incongruity of their compassion towards other animals. ‘This is called speciesism – a form of discrimination based on nothing more than species – and like all forms of discrimination, it cannot be justified.
