The state of New Jersey has clearly fallen in love with sports gambling.
The Division of Gaming Enforcement reports that bets were placed in the amount of $184 million in the month of September. That's nearly double the August number of $96 million. Legal sports betting began in New Jersey in the middle of June. The college and pro football seasons kicked sports wagering into high gear in September.
Income from sports gambling also helped lift Atlantic City's nine casinos to $272.2 million in September. That's nearly a 15% increase from September of 2017. Internet gambling was up 26.3% to $25.7 million dollars.
New Jersey Gaming Enforcement Division Director David Rebuck calls these numbers "stunning."
